MLF's Imported Gypsy Mares

Our Colorful Palette of Imported Gypsy Mares !

Any truly successful horse breeder will tell you that the success of their program is due to the careful selection of excellent foundation broodmares. We literally searched the world to find top quality Gypsy mares for our breeding program. Not only was excellent conformation, type, and disposition at the top of our list, but also excellent forward movement to produce foals that can be top competitors in whatever discipline their owners may choose. After establishing that criteria, we narrowed the field to mares that were exceptional in beauty and coloring. Our Friesian horses have a reputation for having exceptionally beautiful heads, so we included that requirement as well--once a "head hunter, always a head hunter"! In additional to all that, the mares just had to have that something extra, that "WOW! factor". We are extremely pleased to have found the mares listed below. After the long awaited arrival at our farm, we have to say they have truly met our expectations! We are looking forward to their foals--but we still have to decide which of our handsome stallions to breed them to! Not wanting to be sexist, we applied the same stringent criteria to our stallion search. MLF's Imported Gyspy Stallions

Meet Lady Bird -- our rare Buckskin Tobiano mare!

Lady Bird is a beautifully powerful, yet elegant mare. She has presence and attitude, but is gentle with children. She floats at the trot and her gaits are extremely smooth under saddle. She is a true buckskin, an extremely rare color in Gypsy horses. She has been DNA tested positive heterozygous for the creme gene, black gene, and tobiano gene, and homozygous for the agouti (bay) gene.
